Reel Injun

On November 10th 2010, Elizabeth and Laura Blaney had the distinct honour of being awarded the Gemini for Best Research for their work on Reel Injun. Both worked extensively to compile footage of early 20th century Hollywood films that portrayed first nations people. Reel Injun won two additional Geminis at the 10 award ceremony. It won the Canada Award for best multicultural program and Best Direction in a Documentary Program. In 2011 it also received a Peabody Award.
